Our rooftop solar (PV) project on the Black Sea coast
We share a rooftop solar power system we installed on a Black Sea home. Is solar efficient in our region, how does it pair with a heat pump, and what does the project deliver?
We installed a rooftop solar (PV) system on the red-tiled roof of a Black Sea home. Set among hazelnut orchards, this project is a fine example of how applicable solar energy is in our region. So — is solar really efficient on the Black Sea coast?
Is solar efficient on the Black Sea coast?
The Black Sea has a cloudier, rainier climate than the country's south, so annual output per panel is somewhat lower than on the Mediterranean. But modern panels still produce in diffuse light, summers are quite sunny, and with rising electricity prices the system can pay for itself in a few years. With the right roof orientation and tilt, solar is an economical investment on the Black Sea coast too.

Solar + heat pump: the perfect pairing
When the electricity produced by solar panels powers a heat pump, the cost of heating and cooling drops to almost nothing. Already efficient in the Black Sea's mild winters, a heat pump combined with solar creates a very low-running-cost, eco-friendly comfort system. This pairing is one of the smartest energy solutions for our region.

Frequently asked questions
- How long does a rooftop solar installation take?
- A home-scale system is usually installed within a few days, depending on the roof. First comes roof analysis and yield calculation; then the mounting structure, panel layout, inverter and electrical connection, testing and commissioning.
- Can panels be installed on any roof?
- Most roofs are suitable. There are different mounting solutions for tile, metal and flat roofs. Yield depends on orientation, tilt and shading; these are assessed during the survey to plan the best layout.
- Do snow and clouds affect the panels in winter?
- Snow and clouds temporarily reduce but don't stop production; with a tilted mount, snow usually slides off. Sunnier summers balance the annual yield.
- Will solar cover all my home's electricity?
- A well-sized system can cover a large share of your annual consumption; net metering credits daytime surplus toward evening use. Paired with a heat pump, total cost including heating and cooling drops sharply.
