How long does a heat pump installation take?

A typical home project is usually completed within a few days, depending on the existing plumbing. Survey and heat-load calculation come first; then the outdoor unit, buffer/expansion tank and control panel installation, testing and commissioning.

Can I replace my existing boiler with a heat pump?

In most cases, yes. Your radiator or underfloor heating can be adapted to work with a heat pump. During the survey the existing system is assessed and the needed adaptations are determined; this is a conversion we carry out often.

Where is the outdoor unit installed?

The outdoor unit is mounted on an external wall or the ground where airflow isn't blocked and maintenance is easy. In the humid Black Sea climate we use corrosion-resistant feet and proper drainage.

What does the buffer tank in the project do?

The buffer tank stores system water so the heat pump runs more stably and efficiently; it reduces short cycling and extends the unit's life. A separate tank for hot water can also be integrated.

We completed an air-to-water heat pump installation for a home in Ordu. From survey and heat-load calculation to equipment selection, piping and commissioning, RCS Mühendislik handled the whole process. Here we walk through the project and why a heat pump is a sensible choice.

Why a heat pump?

Ordu's mild Black Sea climate is quite favorable for heat pumps: winters are mild and temperatures rarely drop below 0 °C. Because a heat pump's efficiency (COP) falls as the outdoor temperature drops, these mild winters mean the unit runs efficiently and heating bills stay low. And a single system covers heating, cooling and hot water.
